weekend wines

I've tasted 2 bottles of wine this weekend. A & G Olivier, Bourgogne blanc. This wine was nice. It was so nice as the inexpensive wine like this. I'm completely satisfied. The other wine was Chateau la cabanne 1995. This pomerol was nice. I hardly drink Bordeaux. It smelt like mushroom(porcini) and berries. This wine was also inexpensive as Pomerol, I think.

weekend wine

I've drunk two bottles of wine at a bar with friends Yesterday night. A blanc was Michel Lafarge, Meursault 2003. and A rouge was Chateau La Cabanne, Pomerol 1995. I hardly drink a Bordeaux, but I liked this one. It smelt berries and nice smelling mushrooms(like porcini or something). If the common Bordeaux is like that, I will try some more. The blanc was also nice, It's still nice acid and smell, even though We'd already drunk enough at a restaurant.

sextant

I've drunk his wine after a while. It's made by Dominique Derain and his favorite disciple, Julian. It says that this wine was made for compass(sextant) of making pino noir. I'm a fan of his wine since I've tasted his unique white wine, "Mur Mur" before, the right photo is the label. Sextant is nice smell, juicy, fruity, little silky, little sweetness, acidity and nice tannin. It's easy to drink and made me feel relax.

chardonnay in bourgogne

We've tasted chardonnay at this time. and blind tasting game.

First blind was 2 bottle. The shop owner said there is an analogy in those two wine. hmm, one of them taste fruity, flowery, and nice acidity. It's little chiller, but very similar to the wine I've drunk recently, Domaine combier. The other wine smelt like sweet, oak smell? and acidity. So that, I answered it's around Macon. The shop owner was grinning at me. and bingo! ahaha, Well, I was lucky that I've already tasted it.

Next blind also there is an analogy. Everybody said the same Vigneron. haha, everybody guessed what's the answer. I've tasted one of them before, but I couldn't noticed that. I forgot how good it was.

This is the most wine at this tasting, Corton Charlemagne 2004. Very rich smell, nice acidity, and nice balanced wine. After the tasting, Only Domaine pavelot's wine were empty. It's likely that everybody liked his wine. I liked Domaine combier, but you know, I've already tasted it recently, I wanted taste the other wines.

bourgogne

We've enjoyed a small wine tasting party. Tonight Theme was pino noir. Only Bourgogne wines though. It was fun. It would be more fun if we can taste them with the wine of the other countries though, there are less people. That's that.

First of all, We've relieved our thirst with a Champagne, Louis Picamelot. Just the shop owner was given by somebody. It's dry taste. It's nice start.

Nuits Saint George 2001, Les Fleurieres, Jean Jacques Confuron. The shop owner said it's one of old wineries. the color became lighter and the edge was already little orange, even though it past only 6 years.

Nuits saint georges 2000, aux crots, Domane Gachot Monot. younger winery. I've heard of that the vigneron is 30's and he used to get rid of cancer before. now, he is fine and wokring hard to make nice wine. I prefer this one to the earlier one. more tasty. It's only my description though, after a while, somehow, I can smell like mint from this wine. Is my nose wrong? only after flavor though. Does that happen in Pino Noir wines? It's the first time to get that smell in Pino Noir. Well, it's might be something wrong with my nose. Of course, no mint in foods.

Chambolle musigny 2001, Confuron. It smelt like coffee. and more tasty then earlier ones. the color was the same light as earlier ones. but the edge wasn't the same color as the Nuits saint georges 2001. Somehow, I forgot to take the picture. Perhaps, I will get it from somebody later.

Gevrey chambertin, Serafin pere & fils 1999. This is the most tasty tonight. still more acidity, tannin than the other, even it's the oldest wine of all tonight. seems still younger. very strong wine, I think.

Those honey are souvenir from one of us. she went to Paris for only one day by some reason. anyway, nice sounenir. I've given miel de chataignier. it's a chestnut honey, right? I'm looking forward to tasting it.

a wine on the second day

a wine on the second day. sometimes, a wine shows a different nice face. This wine was that. I can't describe the smell though..., after flavor was like.., like something burn, not a toast flavor from a oak barrel. more like.., hmm, I can't describe. not the burning smell like Pouilly Fume. and acidity got soften. There are many flavors I can't describe. fabulous!!
I've cooked a kinda potee tonight. This time, I used a Boston butt. I prefer it to pork belly. less fatty.

Sous Fretille

Domaine Pavelot, 2004. I've tasted his red wine before and I loved it. I was looking forward to tasting his white wine too. and It didn't disappoint me at all. nice acidity, nice smell, it makes me happy. somehow, It reminds me a Cienin Blanc wine in Loire. It's just little though. anyway, I like his wines.
I've cooked the same pasta as I've cooked 2 days ago. but this time, I dispersed chopped Chivee. It's the fist time to use this herb. Chivee smell sweet. it's said it goes together with fish. I will try to use Chivee to some cooking next time.
